We Found Traces of
Land This Way
All representations are attractive: drawing and painting, pottery, plaiting, weaving and playing in the sand in the yard; playing with shadows of the fluttering tablecloth; shapes and prints of pebbles and rocks; and all lines and dots in which you may imagine faces, eyes, hair, ears or horns.
This is how I organize complex art activities. Not one, but a whole series of them. My house, my castle, my igloo, my tepee… They can be played for weeks and months, the variations are infinite and the children’s imaginations are inexhaustible. And I have not mentioned the other great advantage of the “your own house” game yet, such as the opportunity for the observant instructor to notice if there is something wrong with the child. If, for example, he is afraid of something at home like burglars; the shattering of the home, by the divorce of the parents; if he or she is afraid of another child in the kindergarten or of his or her sibling.
