The Broadcast of My Classes

I had taught afternoon classes for families and children in the Budapest Cultural Center for eight years. The beginner class was called mimosa, the advanced groups were bluebells and resedas, the older ones were the maiden pinks. All of the classes were broadcast and recorded on tape. The broadcaster murmured and whispered what he saw; the children got to like the little tape-recorder, they told their stories and thoughts into the microphone.

Our Kati Jászai listened to the tapes and transcribed them with infinite patience. My third book, Music Raises My Hands, came into being on the basis of these transcripts.
